Naomi Samara is a visual artist based in Bali, Indonesia, who spends her time between Bali and Berlin. Her art practice is anchored in Bali and centers on the theme of belonging, examining what it means to inhabit paradoxical realities. Through her work, she explores the layered and fragmentary nature of identity.
By revisiting stories and images from the past, Naomi constructs visual worlds that are both dreamlike and grounded in personal and collective narratives. Her intuitive yet structured process allows her to navigate the tension of the ‘in between’—a space of solitude, reflection, and quiet yearning, where connection takes root. Through her work, she questions how conflicting identities form our sense of connection, and how much of who we are is shaped by generational memory and cultural roots.
